What is Inverter Technology?

You’ll frequently encounter the term “inverter technology” when researching high-efficiency air conditioners. This technology refers to the AC’s compressor and motors, which convert 230 volts AC to DC voltage. This DC current can be modulated to the lowest possible speed needed to maintain the desired temperature. Unlike traditional single-speed systems, inverters can run at multiple speeds, saving energy while providing the same level of comfort.

Inverter technology has been in air conditioners for about a decade, with most major brands offering some version. However, some brands are better than others, often being complex and unpredictable. They are also significantly more expensive and complicated compared to the Bosch system.

Use only the energy you need to create perfect comfort

No matter the SEER rating, nothing beats inverter technology for energy savings. Even two-stage units can’t compare. The Bosch inverter compressor operates between 25% and 110% of capacity, adjusting to provide optimal comfort and energy efficiency. During mild temperatures in late evenings and early mornings, it may run at just 25% capacity, leading to significant energy savings and lower utility costs.

Unlike conventional AC units that operate at full power or not at all, the Bosch inverter is intelligent. It constantly takes readings of indoor and outdoor temperatures, adjusting accordingly. Sometimes, it might require 3 tons of cooling to keep your home comfortable, while other times, it might need less than 0.88 tons. Without the inverter, you could be wasting up to 2.25 tons of cooling energy.
